Working on Our Bugs!

Hey everybody, happy Monday!  Hope you all had a great weekend.  :)  We finally got a day off together yesterday, and both actually had energy!  We celebrated by going from one unfinished project to another, and wanted to post an update.

First, we got the parking brakes working on both the super beetle and the baja.  We have never actually had working parking brakes on either one, haha!  It gets tiresome, having to put them each into gear every time we go anywhere, constantly trying to figure out whether to put them into first or reverse, depending on the hill.  It'll be so nice to have those fixed and working!

Next, we worked on tires.  About a month or so ago, we got a set of 215/75r15 tires for $20 - great find!  We finally had the time to get them installed on some stock wheels for the front of the baja, since it had some horrible, tiny, dry-rotted tires on it when we got it.  It looks and rides so much better now!

We also adjusted the shifter on the baja, since it's great at going up through gears, but didn't like down-shifting into first or second gear, which made slowing down in traffic interesting.  It'll be much safer to drive now ;)

And to finish the night off, we cleaned up the garage a little bit, got the office set up, and washed and waxed both the bugs.

 Happy Dance - R.D.J.

We're gonna have so much fun cruising around now!  Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Night Cruise with Our Bugs

So we go take a cruise to sonic for some dinner in both the bugs, and end up going for a 30 minute drive afterward.  We only got pics and some videos of the Super Beetle, but figured they were worth sharing :)

Our Baja Paint Choices

Hey everybody we are getting ready to plan the paint job on the baja bug, and figured we'd get your opinions!

Here is our idea for a baseline.

 Military Baja Base

We are definitely going with a military theme however do we stick with the general star on the doors?

Here are some other possibilities for the doors, more of a metal mulisha/ apocalyptic style....

 Skull 1

 Skull 2

Or maybe something to go with the German heritage of the car?

Garage Find Baja!

So Alex Colon-Ramos stops by our house last night, seeing our bugs out front, and tells us his story.  He ends up telling us that he has this awesome baja bug.  We talk for a while, and end up stopping by to check it out a little while later, not knowing what we are going to find.
When we get there, this monster is what we find!

From what we see, it is a no bars held offroad beast!
It has a 6" wider front end with extended trailing arms, one piece hood, rack and pinion conversion, 3x3 rear with huge fox shocks and about 14" of travel, disc brake rears, heavy duty axles.

The engine as far as we can tell is easily a 2000cc+ with a t25 turbo, webber idf 44 carb, bus tranny and some custom 33s all the way around.

The list goes on and on.

The best part is its for sale?!?!

We Went Bus Hopping!!

Recently, we paid a visit to a friend who was selling a bunch of VW Buses.  They were on the property his shop manager owned, and he wanted them gone.  They've all since been bought and will hopefully be used for something fun.

For you all, however, we wanted to share them!  Some are diamonds in the rough, some are just skeletons, and some are still pretty awesome.

Which are your favorite??
